Minister of Music Antioch Baptist Church
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated and spiritually grounded Worship & Music Minister to lead our congregation in meaningful, Christ-centered worship. This individual will have a deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ, aligning with biblical principles and the 2020 Baptist Faith & Message. With a clear calling to music ministry, they will model moral integrity, servant leadership, and a life devoted to prayer and worship.
Beyond music, this individual will actively engage in the life of the church, fostering a heart for evangelism and using worship as a tool to reach and uplift the congregation and the community.
Flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to serving the church’s vision will be key to success in this role.
I. General Ministry Requirements
- Spiritual Calling & Faith:
- Must be a baptized believer in Jesus Christ with a deep, personal relationship with Him.
- Should have a clear call from God for ministry and meet all Biblical requirements for ministers (I Tim. 3:1-7).
- Must adopt the church’s theological and relational positions as set forth in its Constitution, including adherence to the 2020 Baptist Faith & Message.
- Lifestyle & Stewardship:
- Demonstrate moral integrity, humility, and Christian character.
- Be a good steward of personal income, recognizing the tithe as the minimum standard of giving.
- Maintain a lifestyle that prioritizes serving God over serving men.
- Family & Community:
- The spouse of each minister should share in Christian consecration and church loyalty. Ministerial Responsibilities
- Reporting & Collaboration:
- Report directly to the Pastor, Personnel Committee, and the church body.
- Collaborate closely with ministry committees and leaders in developing and growing ministry areas. Administrative Duties:
- Participate in budget preparation for respective ministries. o Oversee both in-reach and outreach activities within the ministry area.
- Ensure that all literature and materials align with the church’s articles of faith and The Baptist Faith and Message.
- Leadership & Conduct:
- Function as a member of the staff leadership team, fostering peace and harmony within the church.
- Adhere to Biblical principles rather than secular practices, fulfilling additional responsibilities as needed.
III. Spiritual & Personal Qualifications
- Faith & Devotion:
- Possess strong, personal Christian faith with regular practices of prayer, worship, and devotion.
- Call & Integrity: o Clearly called to ministry, exhibiting moral integrity and humility.
- Servant Leadership:
- Lead by example with a heart for service.
IV. Musical Qualifications (For Music Ministry)
- Musical Proficiency:
- Skilled in singing and/or playing instruments (piano, guitar, etc.).
- Knowledgeable in a variety of Christian music styles including traditional hymns, contemporary worship, and gospel.
- Leadership in Worship:
- Capable of leading congregational worship and directing choirs, praise teams, or instrumental groups.
- Proficient in song selection and arrangement.
- Additional Skills:
- Ability to lead special events such as dramas and plays.
V. Educational & Theological Background
- Formal Training:
- A degree in music, worship leadership, theology, or related field is beneficial, though not mandatory or experience in Christian music leadership is preferred.
- Biblical & Worship Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of Scripture and its application to worship. o Familiarity with worship theology and its role in the church. Practical & Leadership Skills
- Team & Communication:
- Effective team leadership skills for mentoring and training musicians, singers, and volunteers.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with church leadership and congregation.
- Organizational & Technical Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills for planning rehearsals, services, and events.
- Preferred technical knowledge in sound systems, live streaming, and worship software (e.g., ProPresenter).
VII. Church & Community Involvement
- Active Participation: o Engage actively in church events beyond the scope of ministry duties.
- Evangelistic Focus:
- Utilize music to inspire, reach out to, and encourage both church members and the broader community.
- Adaptability:
- Remain flexible and responsive to the evolving needs of the church and its musical expressions.
